Why Do I Need a Medical Examination?

Have you received an appointment from Legal Medicine Consultancy Ltd for an independent medical assessment?

Before a claim for injuries sustained in an incident for which you are not entirely at fault can proceed, individuals are required to undergo a medical examination by an independent practitioner who specialises in the type of injury from which you are suffering.

Your Solicitor/Insurance Company has requested that Legal Medicine Consultancy Ltd undertake that independent examination.

The Report is written for the Court and is an independent, unbiased opinion based on the history you provide and the signs and symptoms elicited during the examination.  Most cases do not result in Court involvement, however every document is prepared as though it will. This reduces any delay should a Court Action be required.

Usually these consultations take approximately 30 minutes, but you will be advised of this in a letter sent out by Legal Medicine Consultancy Ltd confirming your Appointment

You are given the opportunity to see and comment on the Report before it is submitted.  If you wish to contest any factual information contained within the Report, you should do this through your Solicitor or Insurance Company.

Any potential costs you may incur when attending your Appointment should be discussed with your Solicitor or Insurance Company.
